§ 58-60. Rates established.

  • The rates and charges to be paid by users for wastewater service rendered by the wastewater system shall be as follows:

    (a)

    Minimum charges for wastewater. See section 58-61 fixing rates and charges for wastewater system users.

    (b)

    Commodity charge. For all use over amount permitted with minimum billing the commodity charge will be as follows:

    $0.50 per 100 cubic feet for O&M and replacement costs
    em;0 per 100 cubic feet for debt cost
    $0.50 per 100 cubic feet total

     

    (c)

    Industrial cost recovery:

    To City of Parchment—$7.31 per million gallons.

    To City of Kalamazoo—As determined by City of Kalamazoo and approved by EPA.

    (d)

    Surcharges. Surcharges shall be assessed upon any wastewater discharging into the system having any or all of the following properties:

    (1)

    A suspended solids concentration greater than 300 mg/l—;hg;5.5;cent; per kilogram;

    (2)

    A B.O.D. concentration greater than 300 mg/l—;hg;6.6;cent; per kilogram;

    (3)

    A C.O.D. concentration greater than 900 mg/l—6.6;cent; per kilogram.

    Surcharges will be issued for oxygen demand to the wastewater system in accordance with (2) or (3) above, but not both.

    (e)

    Additional charges for removing prohibited material. Additional charges equal to the actual expense incurred by the city for removing prohibited material discharged or caused or allowed to be discharged by the user, and/or the handling and/or treating of said material in the wastewater system.

    (f)

    Additional charges for cleaning and repairing system. Additional charges equal to the actual expense incurred by the city for cleaning or repairing the wastewater system or any part thereof as required by a discharge or caused or allowed by a user.

    (g)

    Tenant deposit. In the event an owner shall file a notice with the city indicating that the tenant of his property is responsible for the sewer charge, before sewage service shall be provided to said premises the tenant thereof shall make a $15.00 deposit with the city, which deposit shall be refunded to the tenant without interest on termination of his tenancy, provided there are no unpaid sewer bills on said premises at the time.
