§ 58-22. Sewer charges for property wholly exempt from taxes.

  • (a)

    Commencing March 1, 1975, a sewer service charge shall be made for sewage services rendered to any building situated on property which is wholly exempt from taxes under the laws of the State of Michigan at the rate of $0.20 per 100 cubic feet of water entering said building on any water line from which water may be discharged into the sewer of the City of Parchment; provided, that so much water as to the satisfaction of the city commission shall be shown will not enter the sewer system may be deducted therefrom in computing sewage charge. In addition, a charge shall be made for readiness to serve any building based upon the size of its water meter as follows:

    If any building discharging sewage into the sewage system of the City of Parchment shall be using water obtained from any source other than the City of Parchment, a meter owned and maintained by the city shall be installed thereon at the expense of the owner of the building and the city shall be given access to said meter at all reasonable times in order to determine the water usage thereof.

    The amounts due for sewage service as hereinafter specified shall be included on the statement for water for all persons subject thereto using water obtained from the City of Parchment, and said charges shall be collected in the same manner and all means of collection as set forth in section 58-111 et seq., in reference to water accounts shall be applicable thereto. The owners of buildings using the sewage system of the City of Parchment shall be billed quarterly for the service as hereinabove and in the event of failure to pay for said service, the City may in its corporate name file suit against said owner in any Court of competent jurisdiction and the production of the meter record and/or cost record shall be facie evidence of the liability of the amount therein shown to be due.

    (b)

    For sewage service to Inmont Corporation from and after March 1, 1975, a charge shall be made of $0.20 per 100 cubic feet of water entering said Inmont Corporation from a water main from which water may be discharged into the sewage system of the City of Parchment, said charge to be paid on a quarterly basis.

    (c)

    As to Hercules Corporation, a sewer charge shall be made of $0.25 per 100 cubic feet of water discharged into the sewer system of the City of Parchment, as measured in a manner determined by the City of Parchment, and in addition thereto an annual service charge of $1,000.00 shall be made, both of said charges to be paid on a quarterly basis.
