§ 30-1. Telephone harassment.

  • (a)

    Harassment prohibited. It shall be unlawful for any person or persons in the city to telephone any other person repeatedly or cause any person to be telephoned repeatedly for the sole purpose of harassing or molesting such other person or his family, whether or not conversation ensues, except for telephone calls made for legitimate business purposes.

    (b)

    Use of obscene, immoral, insulting language prohibited. It shall be unlawful for any person or persons in the city to use any threatening, vulgar, indecent, obscene, immoral, or insulting language over any telephone.

    (c)

    Penalty for violation. Any person or persons violating any of the provisions of this section shall, upon conviction thereof, be subject to a fine of not more than $100.00 or imprisonment for a period not to exceed 90 days in the Kalamazoo County Jail, or both such fine and imprisonment, at the discretion of the court.
