§ 42-60. Special assessments on corner lots for paving, curb and gutter, and sidewalks.

  • The policy of the city with reference to special assessments on corner lots for paving, curb and gutter, and sidewalks, shall be as follows:

    (1)

    Street intersection improvements. The cost of grading, paving, or improving of that portion of the public streets and alleys included within the intersecting lines of the same shall be paid by the city at large from the proper fund, excepting, however, any part of the same chargeable to any public utility.

    (2)

    Assessments on corner lots. On all lots which have frontage on two nonparallel streets, the property shall be fully assessed on the property line frontage on the first of said two streets which is improved. On the second of said streets to be improved the property shall be assessed for the property line frontage on said second street minus 50 feet.

    (3)

    Effective policy on previous improvements. This policy shall apply to the assessment for the second street, regardless of whether the first street has been improved prior to or subsequent to the adoption of this section.
