§ 15.5. Sign surface area.

  • Unless otherwise provided in this article, the total surface area devoted to all signs on all sides on any lot shall not exceed the limitations set forth in this section, and all signs except temporary signs, shall be included in this calculation.

    a.

    Unless otherwise provided in this article, the maximum sign surface area permitted on any lot in any one family or multifamily residential district is two square feet.

    b.

    Subject to the other provisions of this article, the maximum sign surface area permitted on any lot in a nonresidential district shall be determined as follows:

    1.

    There may be not more than three square feet for each linear foot of building frontage, except that a minimum of 50 square feet of signage shall be permitted for all businesses.

    2.

    There may be up to 0.25 square feet of additional sign surface area per linear foot of lot street frontage in excess of 200 feet.

    c.

    The sign surface area of any sign located on a wall of a structure may not exceed 50 percent of the total surface area of the wall on which the sign is located.
